Monday

Today we sent Jez an email to see if we can put the center goal in the gym. We also mostly assembled the corner goal in the second floor of the Arrillaga building, and started assembling the KoP chassis. We put the aluminum/wood blade on the bandsaw and learned that we can cut aluminum with the miter saw with its current blade. We have lubricant for cutting metal on the bandsaw now, thatnks to Bud. We also threw out the Thai food from Friday after eating, because tomorrow night it would have been three days old and it was getting icky. J Rock had fun finishing the green box.
We'll meet early tomorrow because Al Gore is talking at 7. Time will be posted soon.

Cheers!

Kersten (and the new peanut gallery--aka Julia)

didn't we order the sprockets and such too? or am i hallucinating?

You're not hallucinating.

J Rock did order this for us:

- 4 output sprockets
- 4 wheel sprockets

With the 2 output sprockets and the 2 wheel sprockets that we have, we now have a total of 6 of each, which means we have one output sprocket and one wheel sprocket for each of the 6 wheels!

Coooool. They are coming on Wednesday I think!

OOOOOOO. Okay. I'm just going to show up at like 6 pm or so then and help with what I can. Alecia, that's really cool.

weren't we going to order some special output sprockets so we don't have to modify them?

thinner ones, I mean, that J Rock said someone had maybe given him a website or manufacturer for? I can't remember...

Yes. Thinner sprockets. Ones that are called flat sprockets that are only 0.170" thick. We do need to modify them in that they need to have the bore sized correctly to the output shaft and a keyway machined into it (with a keyway broach).

If you go to www.mcmaster.com, type in the part number 2299K311. I purchased two and they are on the way. In the future, these flat sprockets will be very useful to you. As well, you can get flat sprockets from here:

http://www.andymark.biz/35sprockets.htm

They are nice because there's a hole pattern already drilled into the sprocket for you. Yeehaw!

There are more sprockets we'll need to purchase for the launcher!! Your turn to surf mcmaster-carr!!
